Metrics and filters

The dashboard of each site shows the key metrics at the top, followed by a chart and breakdown cards. Everything refers to the time range you choose.

Choose a time range

Today, Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days and All Time. The default is Last 7 Days.

  • Today starts at midnight in your site’s time zone. Last 7 Days and Last 30 Days are whole calendar days, including today.
  • You set the time zone in the site settings. All figures and the chart follow it.

The key metrics

  • Pageviews – the number of all pages viewed in the selected period.
  • Unique Visitors – the number of distinct visitors in the selected period.
  • Sessions – consecutive visits by a visitor, separated by at least 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • Bounce Rate – the share of sessions with only a single pageview.

Click a metric to switch the chart below to it.

Compare with the previous period

Below each metric you see whether it was higher or lower than in the previous period of the same length. Hover over it for the exact values.

  • Today is compared with yesterday.
  • Last 7 Days is compared with the previous 7 days.
  • Last 30 Days is compared with the previous 30 days.
  • All Time has no comparison.

If the previous period had no data but the current one does, it says “New”.

The chart

The chart shows the selected metric over time: hourly for Today, daily for everything else.

The breakdown cards

Each card lists the top 5 with their share in percent:

  • Pages – the most visited pages
  • Entry Pages and Exit Pages – where visitors start or leave their session
  • Referrers – where your visitors come from. Visits without a referrer show up as Direct.
  • Campaigns and Campaign details – visitors who arrive via tagged links (UTM). See UTM campaigns.
  • Countries, Browser, OS and Device – where your visitors are located and the most used browsers, operating systems and device types
  • Known Bot – the share of traffic identified as a known bot
  • Custom Events – custom events triggered by visitors. See Custom events.

Countries, Browser, OS and Device only show data if the matching switch is on in the site settings. All four are off for new sites, and data is only recorded for events that arrive after you switch them on (Data collection).

Good to know

  • Known bots are kept out of the statistics.
  • The dashboard refreshes automatically every 10 seconds, you don’t need to reload the page.
  • In Minimal mode there is no visitor identifier, so Unique Visitors, Sessions and Bounce Rate aren’t available. Pageviews and the tables keep working (Tracking modes).
  • With Cookieless, figures around midnight UTC can differ slightly, because the daily identifier changes then.
  • There are no filters other than the time range.
